Purpose of This Worksheet
Jenny’s father has been an important source of stability, protection, care, and practical support. After Jenny’s stroke, his role became even more significant because he provided security, companionship, mobility support, and help with daily life.
This worksheet does not suggest that Jenny’s father did anything wrong or that Jenny should distance herself from him. The goal is balance: Jenny can love and appreciate her father while also strengthening her marriage, independence, and shared decision-making with Dan.
Important Reframe
Enmeshment is not the same as love. Love allows connection, respect, and freedom. Enmeshment can create guilt, obligation, fear of disappointing someone, or difficulty making independent decisions. Healthy boundaries do not mean rejection. They mean clarity.
